Did you know that one in ten people are gay or lesbian?
How about that the average high school student hears 25 anti-gay slurs per day, or that
studies have shown over 30% of attempted suicides in the United States are comitted by gay teenagers?
It's no lie, gay and lesbian people are some of the most misunderstood people in the world. High school years are strenuous at best, but for gay students these years can be unbearable. This is why Gay-Straight Alliances exist.
The purpose of Gay-Straight Alliances are to provide safe places for youth to discuss issues regarding sexual orientation without fear of judgement or rejection.
All are welcome every Wednesday at 2:15, located in an office to the right of the Columbia Street entrance. No matter what your orientation or identity, you have found a safe place. |
